Win Free Tickets to See The Merry Ploughboys in Worcester on February 12, 2010

One of Ireland’s most popular pub bands - The Merry Ploughboys - is playing at Mechanics Hall in Worcester on Friday, February 12, as part of its 21st anniversary tour.

For two decades the five-member band has been a fixture in Dublin's pub scene - serving as the house band for Johnny Foxes and Taylor's Three Rock before buying their own pub, appropriately named the Merry Ploughboys, in Rathfarnham, Dublin, in 2006.

The concert at Mechanics Hall features traditional Irish ballads, folk music and lots of audience participation as The Great Hall is transformed into an Irish public house, complete with Irish draft beers and traditional pub food.

The evening includes a special performance by Worcester's own McInerney School of Irish Dance.

The concert is presented by the Worcester Hibernian Cultural Centre and Mechanics Hall.

As part of the celebration, the Boston Irish Tourism Association (BITA) is offering two free pairs of balcony tickets to attend this special celebration.
