Ray O'Hanlon Discusses his New Novel, The South Lawn Plot, at Four Green Fields in Boston on Saturday, February 26

Boston's Four Green Fields Pub & Restaurant is hosting writer Ray O’Hanlon on Saturday, February 26, 2011, for a reading of his new novel,  The South Lawn Plot.  The reading begins at 7:00 p.m. and is free to the public.

O'Hanlon, a seasoned journalist, is editor of the national newspaper, The Irish Echo, based in New York City.   This is his first novel, described as a global thriller straddling four centuries and two continents, with a showdown between an American President and a British Prime Minister. 

Writer Pete Hamill called O’Hanlon’s novel “a wonderful work, with a layered, hard-driving narrative, vivid characters, abiding mysteries and the past that has not passed.”

The book is published by GemmaMedia in Boston, which publishes an exciting range of books on cultural memoir, fiction, journalism, and current affairs.

Four Green Fields, Boston's newest pub, opened on February 11, 2011.   Named for a song by the late Irish ballad singer Tommy Makem, Four Green Fields features a spacious first floor restaurant with an oyster bar, an upstairs lounge named for Irish-American boxing champ John L. Sullivan, and an authentic Irish Thatch Cottage.

The pub is located just steps away from the Boston Irish Famine Memorial and other local Irish landmarks along the Irish Heritage Trail.

General Edward L. Logan, Namesake of Boston's Logan International Airport

General Edward L. Logan (1875-1939), namesake of Boston’s Logan International Airport , died on July 6 1939 from a sudden 'heart ailment.'  His brother, Reverend Leo J. Logan, presided over the funeral mass at the Gate of Heaven Church in South Boston, with tributes by leading politicians like Senator David I. Walsh , former Massachusetts Governor and Boston Mayor James M. Curley and former Mayor John F. Fitzgerald .  Logan is buried at the Calvary Cemetery in West Roxbury.  A first generation Irish-American, military leader, civic leader and municipal judge with family roots in Galway and South Boston,  Edward was the oldest of nine children of Lawrence and Catherine (O’Connor), according to Michael Cummings of Milton, an expert on the Logan Family. Damian McGinty, former Celtic Thunder Star, Performs in Hartford and Providence this Fall

Damian McGinty , the young singing star from Derry, Northern Ireland who performed with Celtic Thunder , is returning to New England in October as part of a national tour with  Ethan Bortnick . They will be performing in Hartford, CT on October 5, followed by two shows in Providence, RI on October 12, 2014. Find details here.
