New book on Justice Sandra Day O'Connor Featured at JFK LIbrary October 28

The John F. Kennedy Library is presenting award-winning author  Evan Thomas  and his wife  Oscie Thomas , an attorney and frequent collaborator on his books, discuss his new book  First: Sandra Day O’Connor , at 6 p.m. on Monday, October 28, 2019.  Attendance is free, but registration is required. The event is part of the K ennedy Library Forum , a series of discussions on a diverse range of historical, political and cultural topics reflecting the legacy of President and Mrs. Kennedy's White House years.  The book draws from exclusive interviews and first-time access to the archives of America’s first female Supreme Court justice.  Barbara Perry , professor and director of presidential studies at the University of Virginia's Miller Center, moderates. Quebec Band Genticorum Performs at Blackstone River Theatre on Saturday, October 26

JFK Library Presents the Triveni Dance Ensemble on Saturday, October 26

The John F. Kennedy Library in Boston presents the Triveni Dance Ensemble performing dances from India at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, October 26, 2019.  Admission is free be registration is required.  The event is part of the JFK Celebrates! series dedicated to exploring culture and heritage around the world.   The theme of this presentation is Faces of the Divine - dances dedicated to Hindu deities such as Ganesha, the elephant-headed God; Krishna, the cowherd; Durga, who rides on a lion to control the elements of nature; and Shiva, the Lord of Dance.  The dancers give a stunning performance with beautiful costumes and traditional dance styles. Irish Fiddler WInnie Horan & Trio Perform at Blackstone River Theatre on Saturday, October 19

 Irish fiddler  star  Winifred Horan  is performing with her new trio at  Blackstone River Theatre in Cumberland, RI at 8 p.m. on Saturday, October 19, 2019. Tickets are $18 by making reservations at 401 725-9272, or $22 at the door.   Winnie is accompanied by   Dan Faiella  on guitar and  Utsav Lal  on piano.  Born in New York City to Irish parents, Ms. Horan studied piano and Irish fiddle playing at a young age, then studied classical violin at  the New England Conservatory  in Boston. She has played with multiple orchestras, including the Boston Pops Orchestra , before joining the all-female Celtic music ensemble Cherish the Ladies in 1990. A co-founder of the Irish group Solas, she is also  a nine-time champion Irish stepdancer and an All-Ireland fiddle champion, having won an All-Ireland Junior Fiddle Championship at age eleven. Irish Cultural Centre Presents 1st Annual Irish Beer Fest on Saturday, October 19

The premier  Irish Beer Fest  takes place at the  Irish Cultural Centre  (ICC) in Canton on Saturday,  October 19, 2019.  The fest runs from 1 - 10 p.m..  Tickets are $15 and can be purchased  online  or at the venue. ICC members are admitted free. Beer tasting tents include: Authentic Irish Ales & Stouts, Irish Craft Brew, Local 'Celtic' Brews, Irish Cider, Pumpkin & Ginger Brews.  In addition, Irish whiskey tastings are also being offered.  ICC Chef Joe Kilcommons has created a special menu for the Irish Beer Fest, to include  Guinness Stew, Kerry Gold Cheese Burger, Irish Seafood Chowder, Fish & Chips.  Artisan Food Trucks are also at the fest. Jenna Moynihan & Màiri Chaimbeul, Torrin Ryan Perform at Blackstone River Theatre on Saturday, October 5

Celtic music duo Jenna Moynihan & Màiri Chaimbeul , along with uilleann piper Torrin Ryan , perform at Blackstone River Theatre in Cumberland RI at 8 p.m. on Saturday, October 5, 2019.  Tickets to the show are $18 and can be purchased at the venue or by calling 401-725-9272. American fiddler Moynihan and Skye harpist Chaimbeul, both Berklee College graduates and accomplished composers, combine their passion for Scottish and Gaelic tradition with U.S., Irish, Breton and Swedish influences.   Ryan, a native of Attleboro, MA, is a champion on the uilleann pipes and whistles, and performs frequently in New England.
