Irish Traditional Singer Cathy Ryan Performing at Boston College's Gaelic Roots Music Series on Thursday, April 12

The Gaelic Roots program at Boston College is presenting traditional Irish singer Cathy Ryan in concert with her band on Thursday, April 12, 2012 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.  She is joined by Patsy O'Brien on guitar and Matt Mancuso on fiddle.

The concert, which is free and open to the public, takes place at the Walsh Hall function room, located at 150 St. Thomas More Road on the BC campus. For directions, click here.

Born in Detroit, Ryan is an exceptional traditional singer who toured for eight years with the Irish ensemble Cherish The Ladies

Gaelic Roots was founded by Irish fiddle champion Seamus Connolly, Sullivan Arist in Residence at Boston College, as a way to explore the rich traditions of Irish and Celtic music and dance in an academic setting.

Connolly was also instrumental in starting the Irish Music Center at BC's John J. Burns Library, which contains thousands of rare and important recordings of traditional Irish music collected by Connolly and other musicians and scholars over the past 50 years.
