Irish Cultural Centre Presents Summer Workshops for Children, July 17-21

The Irish Cultural Centre in Canton is gearing up for its week-long summer workshops for children the week of July 17, 2017. The workshops include Irish sports, music, puppetry & theater, dance and Irish language, STEAM (science, technology, engineering, art & math) and a virtual tour of Ireland through movies and the internet.  Cost of the workshops range from $40 to $80. Sited on a 46 acre campus just south of Boston, the Irish Cultural Centre is a year round facility that celebrates Irish culture, sports, heritage, literature and learning in America.  As one of the largest Irish facilities in New England, the ICC is a welcoming place for residents and visitors alike. Glasgow Lands Scottish Festival is Named Event of the Week in Massachusetts

The 24th annual Glasgow Lands Scottish Festival has been named event of the week by the Boston Irish Tourism Association . The festival takes place on Saturday, July 15, at Look Park in Florence, Massachusetts and features a full day of Scottish culture, athletics, dance and music.  Also at the festival: historical reenactors of Scottish history and culture, children's games, food and beverage courts, and a shopping area with authentic Scottish products.  Find  full details  at the Glasgow Lands Scottish Festival website. Irish Musician Sharon Shannon Performs at Irish Cultural Centre, July 8

Renowned Irish accordionist Sharon Shannon is performing at the Irish Cultural Centre in Canton at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, July 8, 2017.   Tickets are $30 and can be purchased at the door. She is performing songs from her new album, Sacred Earth, which blends Irish music with African and Middle Eastern sounds for a distinct sound that is both spiritual and traditional.
