Final Guided Tour of Boston's Irish Heritage Trail is Sunday, August 27

Boston Irish Tourism Association  is conducting its final guided tour of  Boston's Irish Heritage Trail  at 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 27, 2017.   Find  full details here . The tour starts at the  Visitor Information Center  on Boston Common, which is run by the  Greater Boston Convention & Visitors Bureau .  Tickets can be purchased at the Center the day of the tour, which is being led by seasoned Boston tour guide  Ted Kulik . Irish sailor Patrick Carr - one of the Boston Massacre victims buried at Old Granary. Created in 1994, Boston's Irish Heritage Trail tells the illustrious story of the city's Irish community, from the 18th century to the present.  It includes war heroes, politicians, sculptors, poets and immigrants who contributed to the life of Boston. Boston Landmarks Orchestra's Dance Carnival, August 23, Features Harney Academy of Irish Dance

The Boston Landmarks Orchestra is holding a free Dance Carnival at the Hatch Shell on the Charles River Esplanade at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 23, 2017, featuring musical works by some of the world’s leading composers, from Strauss to Copland. Among the highlights of the festival is Leroy Anderson ’s Irish Suite: The Girl I Left Behind Me and Irish Washerwoman, which is being performed by one of the premier schools of Irish dance in USA , the HarneyAcademy of Irish Dance .  Founded in 1990 by Liam Harney, a two-time World Champion, the Irish stepdancers in the academy have won numerous national and international competitions, including at the World Irish Championships in Glasgow in 2016.  A native of Cambridge and winner of two Tony Awards, Anderson is best known for his composition, Sleigh Ride, now a Christmas classic.  Anderson ’s Irish Suite was commissioned by the Eire Society of Boston in 1947 as a tribute to th...

Best wishes to Orlaith Roche, who is representing Boston & New England in the 2017 Rose of Tralee International Festival in Tralee, County Kerry, Ireland. Orlaith won the regional competition in May at the Irish Cultural Centre in Canton, and travels to Ireland to compete against contestants from around the world.   Read more about Orlaith here . Irish band Ruaile Buaile performs at Irish Cultural Center on August 8

Ruaile Buaile , a traditional Irish band from County Offaly, performs in concert at the Irish Cultural Centre in Canton at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, August 8, 2017. Admission is $22 and includes a meal from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m.. The band's first two albums, " Commotion" and "This Very Moment " were instant hits in Ireland and are now becoming popular in the US and other countries.
