BOSTON TOURISM GROUP ISSUES FREE GUIDE ON CULTURAL ACTIVITIES IN MASSACHUSETTS AND IRELAND

(BOSTON) -- The Boston Irish Tourism Association (BITA) has issued its 2017 annual St. Patrick’s Day issue of Travel & Culture Guide, a compendium of parades and festivals, concerts and dances, literary and film events and other cultural activities taking place in Massachusetts and throughout New England.

The 28-page color magazine is distributed free at visitor kiosks and cultural venues in Massachusetts and is available in digital format online. Pick up a free copy here.

This issue features profiles of Keith Lockhart, conductor of Boston Pops Orchestra; Jim Barry, Band Master of the Boston Police Gaelic Column of Pipes & Drums; Bill Sullivan, National Board Member of the Ancient Order of Hibernians; Bill Linehan, Boston City Councilor from South Boston; Ted Kulik, professional tour guide on Boston’s Irish Heritage Trail; and Maudy Dooher, Director of Programming at the Irish Cultural Centre in Canton.

Also in the Guide: news on Mayor Marty Walsh’s recent award for leadership in the arts; an update on the Martin Richard Park in Boston; news from Massport’s cruise ship program and its new exhibits at Logan Airport; and the just-released Forever postal stamp in honor of President John F. Kennedy.

As always, this issue of Travel & Culture Guide provides a round-up of parades, concerts, films and literary events taking place in Massachusetts and other parts of New England.  On the music side, the Guide has thumbnail sketches of performers coming to town, including Irish tenor Emmet Cahill, fiddler Eileen Ivers, Donegal singer Daniel O’Donnell, and the world-renowned show, Riverdance.

The spring issue includes a section on Ireland, with travel tips for visiting in 2017, plus stories on Aer Lingus’ new upgrades and air route; coastal trips in Ireland; and profiles on Ireland’s largest cities, Dublin and Belfast.

Finally, the Guide includes a walking map of Boston's Irish Heritage Trail, and a directory of selected cultural organizations, hotels and pubs, gift shops and travel agencies in Massachusetts and Ireland.
