Irish Comedian Ardal O'Hanlon Performs at Crystal Ballroom in Davis Square, Somerville on Tuesday, September 20

Ireland's Godfather of Comedy, Ardal O'Hanlon, performs at the Crystal Ballroom at Somerville Theatre in Davis Square at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, September 20 2022.   Local comedian Dana Cairns is the opening act.

Tickets to the show are $30 and can be purchased online or at the door the night of the show.

O'Hanlon helped create the ground-breaking Comedy Cellar in his native Dublin in the 1990s, and later moved to London, where he quickly picked up the Hackney Empire New Act of the Year and the Spitting Image New Act of the Year awards.

He became a star for his role as the infamous Fr. Dougal in Father Ted, one of the most iconic sitcoms in British television history, for which O'Hanlon won the British Comedy Award Top Television Newcomer and was nominated for numerous Bafta awards and British Comedy Awards.

On this side of the Atlantic, O'Hanlon was the first Irish comedian invited to do a 30-minute special on Comedy Central, and he did a successful comedy tour in the states with fellow comedians Tommy Tiernan and Dylan Moran.

Here is a calendar of other upcoming shows at the Crystal Ballroom in the Somerville Theatre, Davis Square, Somerville.
