Máirín Uí Chéide
On Thursday, March 16, sean nos singer Máirín Uí Chéide presents Irish Gaelic Song and Story at Larz Anderson Auto Museum in Brookline. The concert begins at 8 p.m.
On Thursday and Friday, March 16-17, Gypsy Reel, featuring Claudine Langille on vocals, banjo and mandolin, perform at the Killarney Pub in Ludlow, VT. On Saturday, March 18, the band plays at Slate Valley Museum in Granville, NY.
Green Road and Clodagh Kinsella
The Irish Cultural Centre in Canton has an amazing line-up of music and dancer this weekend.
On Friday, March 17, live music starts at 11 a.m., with sessions led by Aoife Griffin, Niamh Healey, Adam Hendey Colm Gannon and Joey Abarta, followed by Skeaf Bridge at 7 p.m. Green Road & Irish Soprano Clodagh Kinsella from Wexford perform a special concert at 8 p.m. This five-piece ballad and folk band plays a blend of Irish folk and traditional tunes infused with a Country and Bluegrass flavor, while Kinsella is a talented multi-instrumentalist in vocals, piano and violin. On Saturday, March 18, a Family Celebration at the Centre runs from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. featuring live music with Strawberry Hill - a Boston-based trio with a unique blend of Irish, Scottish and American music. Enjoy Irish dancing, arts & crafts, face painting, storytime with Princess Belle, and an Irish breakfast buffet.
On Friday, March 17, the Aisling Gallery & Framing Shop in Hingham, MA, hosts an open house from 6-8 p.m., featuring live Irish music from the Tryder Sisters, twin sisters, on the fiddle.
Connacht
On Friday, March 17, the Connacht band perform three shows at the Chieftain Pub in Plainville, the Raillery in Franklin, and the Red Rooster in Wrentham. On Sunday, March 19 the band performs at the Public Library in Plymouth.
On Friday, March 17, the Irish Pastoral Centre of Boston holds its annual St. Patrick’s Day event at Florian Hall in Dorchester, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. The event starts with Mass, followed by a corned beef meal and music and dancing with Erin's Melody. On March 19, The Centre hosts a traditional Irish music session at its office in Adams Village, Dorchester, from 3-5 p.m.
On March 18, the Blackstone River Theatre in Cumberland, RI presents, Open the Door for Three, starting at 7 p.m.
On Saturday and Sunday, March 18-19, fiddler and instrument maker Rose Clancy headlines the Celtic Crossroads Concert at the South Harwich Meetinghouse on Cape Cod. Rose is joined by John Alden, Max Cohen, Brendan Dolan, Bailey Ford, Jonathan Ford and the Marchio family, along with shanachie Dennis Cunningham.
On Sunday, March 19, Tipperary harpist Áine Minogue performs at Wright-Locke Farm in Winchester beginning at 3 p.m.
