Irish Band Reverie Road Performs at Blackstone River Theatre on April 13, 2024

Traditional Irish music quartet Reverie Road ends its national tour with a concert at the Blackstone River Theatre in Cumberland, RI at 8 p.m. on Saturday, April 13.  The band features Solas members fiddler Winifred Horan and accordionist John Williams, alongside former Gaelic Storm fiddler Katie Grennan, and Steinway artist Jazz and Raga pianist Utsav Lal. 

Tickets are $25 in advance and $28 the day of the show.  

Offering a powerful mix of ancient Irish airs and upbeat reels and jigs, as well as original soundscapes that weave the roots of the Irish musical traditions with fresh new departures, Reverie Road was recently awarded the “Best Debut Album of 2023” by the Ireland Tonight Radio Music Awards. 

Winifred Horan played with Cherish the Ladies before co-founding the award winning and renowned American Irish band Solas. 

Accordionist John Williams, also a co-founder of Solas, is internationally regarded as one of the foremost players of Irish music today. With five All-Ireland titles to his credit, John is the only American-born competitor ever to win first place in the Senior Concertina category. 

Pianist Utsav Lal holds a Bachelors in Jazz from the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, and a Masters in Contemporary Improvisation from the New England Conservatory of Music. 

Katie Grennan’s traditional fiddle playing carries the articulation of a gifted classical musician tempered by the soul of a champion Irish dancer. Katie was the fiddler in the popular Celtic-fusion band Gaelic Storm for more than five years.

Damian McGinty, former Celtic Thunder Star, Performs in Hartford and Providence this Fall

Damian McGinty , the young singing star from Derry, Northern Ireland who performed with Celtic Thunder , is returning to New England in October as part of a national tour with  Ethan Bortnick . They will be performing in Hartford, CT on October 5, followed by two shows in Providence, RI on October 12, 2014. Find details here. McGinty was part of the original Celtic Thunder ensemble for several years, and left the band in 2012 when he won a coveted spot on the television show Glee .  Since then he has embarked on a solo career that has taken him around the world.  In 2013 McGinty was Cultural Ambassador for his home city of Derry, Northern Ireland . Commemorate the 25th Anniversary of Boston Irish Famine Memorial on June 28, 2023

On Wednesday, June 28, the Irish community from greater Boston is gathering alongside public officials, businesses and immigrant organizations to commemorate the 25th anniversary of the Boston Famine Memorial.
