5th Annual Boston Irish Beer Fest Taking Place at the Irish Cultural Centre on Saturday, October 19

The 4th Annual Boston Irish Beer Festival is coming to the Irish Cultural Centre of Greater Boston in Canton, MA on Saturday, October 19, 2024 from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m.. 

Tickets to the event are available online or at the event. Children under 12 go free. Parking is also free.

The all-day event on the spacious Centre grounds features live music and singing, children's activities,  beer tastings, and family fun that highlight Irish culture and heritage. 

The main attraction of the day is the variety of vendors offering tastings of their finest brews, whiskeys and cider.   Beers include authentic Irish ales and stouts and local craft brews with unique flavors such as pumpkin and ginger brews. A full menu of food is available too, including Guinness Stew, Kerry Gold Cheese Burgers, Irish Seafood Chowder and Fish & Chips.

The festival's two stages of live music provide continuous music throughout the day. Top local bands include Strawberry Hill, The Lindsays, Connacht, The David Healy Band and Sláinte.  Popular Kerry storyteller Joe Keane is also appearing.

Irish dance performances include The Sullivan School of Irish Dance, The Petrocelli Academy of Irish Dance, The Harney Pender Keady Academy of Irish Dance and The Dunleavy Boyle Academy of Irish Dance.

Children's activities include face painting and  arts and crafts, and a thrilling Viking show, where attendees witness exciting reenactments of ancient legendary warriors. Participants can test their archery skills with bow and arrow. The popular mascots from the New England Revolution and The Battalion will also make an appearance.

In addition to the festivities, vendors offer an array of products for shopping and browsing, from Mulligan Gear and JTC Jewelry to Kendra Scott and more. 




Opened in 1989, the Irish Cultural Centre of Greater Boston is located in Canton, Massachusetts, less than 10 miles from Boston, on a 46 acre campus complete with cultural stages and classrooms, a library, pub and restaurant, an authentic thatched cottage, playing fields and walking paths.

ICC is a nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting and preserving Irish culture and heritage. It offers a wide range of cultural, educational, and social programs for all ages, including language classes, music and dance performances and cultural events.

General Edward L. Logan, Namesake of Boston's Logan International Airport

General Edward L. Logan (1875-1939), namesake of Boston’s Logan International Airport , died on July 6 1939 from a sudden 'heart ailment.'  His brother, Reverend Leo J. Logan, presided over the funeral mass at the Gate of Heaven Church in South Boston, with tributes by leading politicians like Senator David I. Walsh , former Massachusetts Governor and Boston Mayor James M. Curley and former Mayor John F. Fitzgerald .  Logan is buried at the Calvary Cemetery in West Roxbury.  A first generation Irish-American, military leader, civic leader and municipal judge with family roots in Galway and South Boston,  Edward was the oldest of nine children of Lawrence and Catherine (O’Connor), according to Michael Cummings of Milton, an expert on the Logan Family. "Blazing the Trail" depicts early Irish filmmaking, showing on November 23 in Brookline

The Boston Irish Film Festival is presenting a fresh new look at early Irish filmmaking with the presentation of Blazing the Trail: The Story of the Kalem Film Company in Ireland. The multimedia event takes place on Monday, November 23, 2009, at the historic Coolidge Corner Theater at 290 Harvard Street in Brookline, MA, from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. The project was created by film scholar and director Peter Flynn, founder of the Boston Irish Film Festival , and produced by Dawn Morrissey. They will show a selection of rarely-seen films from the early 20th century, as well as several short films that put the historical film in retrospect and modern context. Live music will be interspersed between the films to create an old-time Nickelodeon atmosphere. Musicians are pianist Peter Freisinger and vocalists Victoria Hayes and Liz Hayes.
