The event kicks off a busy month at the Irish Cultural Centre headquarters in Canton, which includes a variety of  activities in its capacity as the region's largest Irish cultural organization.   Entertainment for the March 3 event includes performances by Declan Houton, David Healy, Aoife Griffin & Co., and talented dancers from the Harney Pender Keady Academy.

Also that night, the Centre presents its annual Gradam Dóchais Award to Eithne & Colin Bell for their outstanding charity work with the Kevin Bell Repatriation Trust.

KBRT was founded out of a family tragedy when, in June 2013, Kevin Bell died suddenly in New York. Following an outpouring of support from Kevin’s friends, family and colleagues, significant funds were raised to repatriate his remains back to Ireland. As a permanent legacy to Kevin, the Bell family decided to establish a charity to help other families who find themselves in a similar situation. The KBRT provides financial support as well as advice and guidance on getting the remains of loved ones home as soon as possible.

KBRT have now repatriated 2,050 loved ones to their families in Ireland from countries worldwide such as Australia, Argentina, South Korea, USA, Canada, Ecuador, Cambodia, India, Uganda and other places. The Trust repatriates approximately 25-30 loved ones back to Ireland per month. Costs per repatriation can cost up to GBP 20,000 depending on the circumstances of the death, local charges and hospital release costs. The Trust receives no funding from either government north or south.
