Eire Society of Boston Honoring Mary Robinson, former Irish President, with Gold Medal Award on May 13



The Eire Society of Boston is honoring Mary Robinson, former President of Ireland, with this year's Gold Medal Award on Friday, May 13, 2011 at the Seaport World Trade Center in Boston.

Tickets to the event are $150 and can be ordered by calling 1 866 560-1050.

Robinson was the first woman President of Ireland (1990-1997).  She is  former United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights (1997-2002), and founder and President of Realizing Rights: The Ethical Globalization Initiative (2002-2010).

Formed in 1937, the Eire Society of Boston promotes Irish culture in the Boston area year round.

Past Gold Medal Award recipients have included John F. Kennedy, Olympian James B. Connolly, writer Mary Lavin, scholar Dr. Margaret MacCurtain, and Senator George Mitchell among others.  For a complete list, click here.
