Boston Tourism Group Promotes Opportunities to Visit Northern Ireland

Dark Hedges, Game of Thrones

The Boston Irish Tourism Association's (BITA) summer issue of Travel & Culture magazine highlights some great reasons to visit Northern Ireland this year.  BITA works closely with Tourism Ireland to promote travel from North America to the island of Ireland year round.

Among BITA's recommendations for Northern Ireland:

Carnlough Harbor

- Visiting Game of Thrones film locations where the HBO series was filmed over the past eight years in Northern Ireland.  Suggestions include a 330 mile driving tour of the sites, and visits to the Ulster Museum, Carnlough Harbor and the Dark Hedges in County Antrim, the Inch Abbey and Castle Ward in County Down, and a stunning display of thematic stained glass art at the TEC exhibit hall in Belfast.

Galgorm Golf Resorts & Spa

- Golfing in Northern Ireland, which boasts 90 golf courses.  This summer, the 148th British Open takes place  in July at Royal Portrush Golf Course in Antrim. In August, Cara Group Tours of Quincy, MA is leading a group tour to the ISPS Handa World Invitational for Men & Women at the Galgorm Golf Resorts & Spa and the Massereene Golf Club in County Antrim.

City of Belfast

- Visiting Belfast, the capital of Northern Ireland and one of the major cultural destinations in all of Europe.   Among the recommendations is a visit to the Titanic Museum, the Botanical Gardens and Queens University. The city that spawned Van Morrison and Sir James Galway also has a vibrant music scene year round.
