Glasgow Lands Scottish Festival on July 25 Features a Day of Scottish Music, Culture, Food & Fun in Northampton, MA

Come enjoy the 28th annual Glasgow Lands Scottish Festival, taking place on Saturday, July 25 at Look Memorial Park in Florence (Northampton), Massachusetts!  This is the only Scottish Festival in Massachusetts, and the second largest one in New England.  Purchase your tickets here.

The festival features incredible dancers, athletes and entertainers including Albannach, Enter the Haggis, Screaming Orphans, Sarah the Fiddler and Charlie Zahm. 

The event features all things Scottish, including bagpipes, athletics, Celtic dance, drumming, Scotch Tasting, vendors, historical demonstrations and children’s events.

Food and drinks are available for purchase including Whisky Tasting. Dogs on leash are allowed. Entertainment in the Celtic Pub until 9:30 p.m.

Seven Matches of FIFA World Cup Soccer 2026 Schedule in Boston

Today,  FIFA World Cup 2026™  revealed the schedule of which national teams are playing in which stadiums this June and July, when 48 national soccer teams take the field in 16 North American cities.  Boston is hosting a total of seven soccer matches, including five group stage matches, a Round of 32 match, and a Quarter-Final.  Among the teams set to play at Boston Stadium (Gillette Stadium) in Foxborough, MA are Haiti, Scotland, Norway, Morocco, Ghana, England, France and one other team yet to be determined. These matches take place between June 13 and June 26.  The Round of 32 match takes place on June 29, and the Quarter Final Match on July 9, 2026.  The final match of World Cup Soccer takes place on July 19 at New York New Jersey Stadium.  A record 48 teams from around the world are participating in the upcoming games. General Edward L. Logan, Namesake of Boston's Logan International Airport

General Edward L. Logan (1875-1939), namesake of Boston’s Logan International Airport , died on July 6 1939 from a sudden 'heart ailment.'  His brother, Reverend Leo J. Logan, presided over the funeral mass at the Gate of Heaven Church in South Boston, with tributes by leading politicians like Senator David I. Walsh , former Massachusetts Governor and Boston Mayor James M. Curley and former Mayor John F. Fitzgerald .  Logan is buried at the Calvary Cemetery in West Roxbury.  A first generation Irish-American, military leader, civic leader and municipal judge with family roots in Galway and South Boston,  Edward was the oldest of nine children of Lawrence and Catherine (O’Connor), according to Michael Cummings of Milton, an expert on the Logan Family. Edward’s father Lawrence immigrated to Boston from Ballygar, County Galway, in 1858, and became a successful businessman at a young age when he became president of the Boston Brewing Company in South Boston.  The ...
