Other events in this year's Women's Leadership Celebrations are taking place on January 9 in Washington DC, featuring US Ambassador to Ireland Claire Cronin, who is joined by BBC News Correspondent Caitriona Perry.

Then on January 11 in Chicago, the IAP celebrates Ireland's President Mary Robinson, the first woman president of Ireland.  She is joined by Glamour Magazine Editor-in-Chief Samantha Barry.

For nearly four decades, the Irish American Partnership (IAP) has been connecting Irish-Americans to the people of Ireland in the most meaningful, imaginative and fruitful ways.

Formed in 1986, with endorsements from the Irish government, the Boston based non-profit organization's enduring mission has been to help create a strong, healthy, peaceful Ireland by supporting education, community development and peace initiatives.

That mission has been successful. To date, the Partnership has raised $53 million, helping young people and communities, North and South, and empowering and educating the next generation of global leaders. Through targeted giving, more than 650 primary schools, higher educational institutions, and community organizations in Ireland have received funding from the IAP.

In addition to its fundraising and charitable donations, this dynamic grassroots organization provides a forum for visiting leaders from Ireland to speak to American audiences about economic development through tourism, trade and mutual exchange. The IAP's robust calendar of events provides a portal for engaging with Ireland's cultural and educational advocates, Irish women's global leadership, business and finance pioneers and more.

Praised by leaders across business, education, community, and government sectors in both Ireland and the United States, the Irish American Partnership's steady, non-partisan support has made a meaningful difference to the island of Ireland.
