The Irish Cultural Centre (ICC) of Greater Boston, in collaboration with the Consulate General of Ireland Boston, held its second annual St. Brigid’s Day celebration on Thursday, February 1 at the Westin Copley Place in Boston.

ICC Board President Martina Curtin welcomed more than 100 guests to the event in Boston's Back Bay, part of a worldwide celebration taking place in Ireland and throughout the Irish Diaspora to honor St. Brigid, patron saint of Ireland.

Irish Consul General Sighle FitzGerald, whose Consulate represents Boston and New England, introduced and moderated a panel discussion entitled Brigid: Legacy, Leadership and Dispora. Panelists included Boston College Professor and Burns Scholar Claire Connolly; Harvard Medical School Assistant Professor of Neurology Dr. Saranna Fanning; Babson College Chief Administrative and Financial Officer Katherine Craven; and Boston City Councilor Liz Breadon.

Live traditional Irish music was provided by Katie and Brad O'Donnell and Adam Hendy.  Niamh Healey provided harp music and Mary Conroy Henderson sang the American and Irish anthems.

St. Brigid’s Day, Lá Fhéile Bríde, became a national holiday in Ireland in 2023, and has become an annual celebration of the creativity and achievements of Irish women, in the arts, science, business, politics and countless other fields.
