Gaelic Athletic Games (GAA) Taking Place at the Irish Cultural Centre in Canton, MA on May 4-5

The Gaelic Athletic Association's Boston/Northeastern Division has a full weekend of exciting games and activities on Saturday and Sunday, May 4-5 at the Irish Cultural Centre in Canton, as a ramp up to the upcoming season.

On Saturday afternoon, starting at 2:30 p.m., a full round of the Pat O'Brien Cup matches takes place, with teams from across New England playing in elimination matches in order to reach the finals.

Prior to the GAA matches at the Irish Cultural Centre, the GAA is offering a Referee's course on Saturday at 8:30 a.m., for those interested in becoming referees this summer or for just brushing up on the rules.

At 11:30 a.m., GAA is offering a CPR course for those who want to learn these important lifesaving skills. A new AED (automated external defibrillator) is located behind the scoreboard. The fee for the course is $50 and the class covers adult, children and infant CPR. Text Neil at 617 360-1620 to ensure a spot in the class. 

Man O'War GFC, North Dublin 

On Sunday, May 5, starting at 3 p.m., the Man O' War Gaelic Football Club from North Dublin brings a boys and girls under 18 team to the Irish Cultural Centre for matches against a Boston select team. Man O'War is a 45 member football club, currently on an American visit to New York and Boston this month. The team is accompanied by 23 parents and 7 coaches.


Complementing the activities at the ICC, the New Hampshire Wolves Hurling Team is hosting a free Intro to Gaelic Sports for youths, part of its Spring 7's Hurling Tournament. The event is free and takes place at 2 p.m. on Saturday, May 4.
