Irish uilleann piper Conor Mallon and Band Performing at Irish Cultural Centre in Canton on September 4

 


Conor Mallon

Acclaimed Irish uilleann piper Conor Mallon is performing with his band live at the Irish Cultural Centre in Canton on Wednesday, September 4, from 8-10 p.m.  Tickets to the concert are $25 and can be purchased online or at the Centre the night of the show.  

Conor Mallon Unearthed Band

Mallon is performing from his award winning album, Unearthed, which has been nominated as Album of the Year in Germany and Ireland.  Joining Mallon in the concert is an all-star cast of musicians, including Paul Starrett on electric guitar, Jack Warnock on acoustic guitar and vocals and Fintan Mulholland on bodhran and whistles. 

A native of Keady, County Armagh, Mallon began his musical career with the famous Armagh Pipers club before touring with his band Connla.  The website Folking.com has praised Mallon for “leading the next generation of Uilleann pipe players.”


Conor was the first recipient of the ACNI/BBC Northern Ireland Young Traditional Musicians Award,  and subsequently was a guest musician with the Ulster Orchestra and with the award winning Foden’s Brass Band. 

He is an also Senior County, Ulster and All-Ireland Champion on Uilleann Pipes in the Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann.  He has won numerous other awards, including the Uilleann Piping Scholarship by the Na Píobairí Uilleann Dublin in 2008 and was the first recipient of the Mark Donnelly Bursary for Uilleann Piping Award in 2010.

Irish Cultural Centre in Canton, MA

Opened in 1989, the Irish Cultural Centre of Greater Boston is located in Canton, Massachusetts, less than 10 miles from Boston, on a 46 acre campus complete with cultural stages and classrooms, a library, pub and restaurant, an authentic thatched cottage, playing fields and walking paths.

ICC is a nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting and preserving Irish culture and heritage. It offers a wide range of cultural, educational, and social programs for all ages, including language classes, music and dance performances and cultural events.
